Serving Rohrersville — the Pleasant Valley mill village with a marble past and a brass band
Rohrersville began in the 1730s on a 1,550-acre tract called “Park Hall,” patented by William Parks in 1732 — then French immigrant Frederick Rohrer settled here in 1766, and his sons built the grist mill that turned farmland into a village in the 1810s and 1820s. The name “Rohrersville” first appears in 1836, and by the 1860s it was a bustling commercial center — not just for the mills, but for a thriving marble industry, with a quarry nearby serving William McCoy, who founded the Rohrersville Cornet Band in 1837 (still playing today, one of Maryland’s oldest bands). When the B&O Railroad’s Washington County Branch arrived in 1867, it launched a second era of prosperity, and many of the Victorian homes lining the village date to that period. We’re about 30–35 minutes southwest in Frederick via US-340 and MD-67 through Pleasant Valley, so Rohrersville homes are a regular stop on our southern route — call before noon for same-day service.
